Golden Guernseys

This will be brief.

I know of two excellent Guernsey breeders, and they must be exceptional cattlemen because they have very nice Guernseys, and that is a big deal! Traditionally Guernseys were good producers of golden milk on pastured dairies. I’m not sure what happened over time, but the Guernseys of today lack way too much fertility and hardiness. Yes, that’s my biggest complaint. Personality is fine, milk quality is good, but without hardiness and fertility, the breed suffers. They have the Jersey fragility on a Holstein sized frame.
